A few weeks ago I went to Paris and wauw, what a city! It inspired me so much... It made me thinking of new possibilities. Here is a day-to-day-report!
Monday, May 21 2012: I woke up early to make the last things ready. The bus left at 07.30 am, and we all had to sit in the bus for the next 9 hours. We arrived in a rainy Paris, not what I expected, but okay, we had to do a lot of things! We had to load the stuff out of the bus, and we had to set up our tents! Everyone was wet and tired, but we still hadn't had no dinner yet, so we had to cook! My friends and I made pasta: macaroni. Cooking on a small gas stove is not really Jamie Oliver- style, but oh, it was hilarious! After we did our dish (which was very funny too, because the pasta was burnt and we couldn't clean the bottom of te pan!), we went to the Arc the Triomphe! After we went back to the camping, I went straight to bed: I was exhausted!
Tuesday, 22 May 2012: After we took all a shower and a breakfast we went to the Metro-station to go to the Notre Dame. It's a beautiful cathedral! My teacher told me so much about all the paintings in it, and about the construction of this building! Did you know that all the kings of the Old Testament were statued on the outside of the Notre Dame? Then we walked to the Louvre, one of the most famous museums in the world (because of the Mona Lisa). I saw the piramide (and as a real tourist I made a lot of pictures this day ;-) )!
We lunched in Jardin de Tuileries (at the back of the Louvre). There were a lot of black men who wanted to sell me things like little Eiffeltowers, and they couldn't understand me... So I just said: Rot op! (Shut up in Dutch)! Very funny, because they didn't know what I was saying. I could see the Champs- Elysées from that garden, and it is a very 'Haute couture' street ;-).
We took the metro to the famous Tour Eiffel (Eiffeltower) and I climbed up to the top! What an amazing view, really. I felt like a giant... all the people, builidings and cars were so tiny.. like little spiders! We took the metro again, but this time to La Défense (big companies have established themsleves here) and we shopped a lot for the cooking contest that evening. I have seen the Grand Arche, an arc, based on the same straight line as the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe.
Our 'Haute Cuisine' dinner:
Appetizer: Ordinary lettuce
Main dish: Ravioli with red sauce
Desert: Chocolate fondu.
Wednesday, 23 May 2012: Today I went to the Opéra, Paris' music building, built in the 18th century. It's a massive building and so nice! You can see so much light, and stairs, and windows. It's like a palace, and I imagined that all kinds of good dancers and singers performed here once. Then we went to quarter Montmartre, which used to be a tine village near by Paris, bu since 1865 it's a neighboorhood from Paris. It is also called the Artistsquarter, because so many famous artists lives here (Picasso and more). Toward the Sacré Couer we sat and the sun burned my shoulders, the rest of the week my shoulders hurt :( . And.... I saw the world famous Moulin Rouge! It was a little bit of an anti climax. I thought it was like the movie (Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor), but it was only a small building with (Oh yes!) the mill. Nothing more than that.... But: I've seen it!
We had permission to shop in Bour Bourges, a shopping mal. My friends and I must also eat in this mal, so we went to Mac Donalds (what a surprise!). I also saw the original Mona Lisa (or La Jaconde) itself! I've been in the Louvre! It is a nice museum, an extra large museum, but oh so beautiful. A lot of special paintings, with all a lovely story and I could walk in it for a whole day! And, like we weren't tired, we made a bustrip through Paris. Paris by Night! Wauw, maybe Paris is by night more beautiful than by day.
We arrived the camping at 23.30pm and the next day was a long day too, so I went straight (again, I know) to bed.
Thursday, 24 May 2012: This is a very special day, because we went to Paris by ourselves! We were allowed to go to a couple of famous things by our own! We went to a museum and a stupid cathedral! Oh, there was something funny at that cathedral! Here comes te funniest story of the week:
At the entrance of the cathedral, were a couple of agents, who were supposed to check if you were not having any dangerous things in your bag/pocket. And my three friends walked through a customs gate and there was nothing wrong! So I thought: everything is going to be allright.. Well, it went wrong. The gate starts to bleep and the agents said a lot of things to me in French, which I didn't understand. And what did I do? Exactly: I walked to the nearest wall, spread my arms and legs and stand against the wall. And all of the people in that little room started to laugh! I was like: 'What? What do the mean?' All I had to do was turn around, so that they could look with their device if there was nothing in my pockets. And that stupid thing started to bleep also! I immediately thought of the prison: '16 YEAR OLD GIRL TRIED TO BLOW AN OLD FRENCH CATHEDRAL'. But it was only my phone.
Since that moment, nothing could go wrong, right? Oh yeah, everything could go wrong! At the ticket office of the cathedral said an old, moody lady we were not old enough. 'You may only participate under guidance, or if you are older than 18. Non c'est impossible!' So... we called our teachers, our heroes! They came and we had to wait for almost half an hour, in the blazing sun! When we finally were able to see the cathedral's inside and... it was boring!
Then we we were going to shop in Bour Bourges. I only bought sunglasses.. because I couldn't find ane nice clothes:(
We ate pizza with the whole group and then we went to the guay, where we had to tell the rest of the group what we had done that day.
As rousing valve of this unforgettable week, we made a very nice boattrip on the Seine. We saw all the nice sights again.. and it was, in my opinion, magical!
Friday, 25 May 2012: Everyone was tired, but we had to pack our tents and clean op the terrain. Everyone was silent during the busstrip at home.
